Physical Education

In Mosshead our P.E. programme features prominently in the curricular area of Health & Wellbeing. It promotes exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle and fosters a love of sporting activities. We encourage our pupils to develop their skills and competence in games and both inventive and expressive movement.

In Mosshead Primary we are most fortunate to have Miss McGeachie who is our P.E. specialist. Miss McGeachie works in our school five days per week delivering a highly effective P.E. programme. In addition to our programme of study, Miss McGeachie also runs many of our sporting after school clubs.

Our pupils are given the opportunity to take part in Sports Festivals organised by our Active Schools coordinator Heather Davies. The festivals take place at a variety of different venues, the Allander Sports Centre, Bearsden Tennis Club and The west of Scotland RFC are just a few of the facilities our pupils have visited in the past, this affords our children the opportunity to experience different sporting activities in the proper settings and hopefully inspire some of them to take up a particular sport outwith school.

Throughout the year we invite visiting specialist sports instructors to deliver taster sessions to our children. This supplements our P.E. curriculum and allows our pupils to sample a wide variety of sporting activities.
