Pre 5/Primary 1 Joint Enterprise Project - Saint Andrew’s Day Celebrations

As you will see from the photos below the children from Primary 1and Mosshead Pre-school thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our Scottish Heritage. Demonstrating that you are never too young to be enterprising, the children worked collaboratively to plan and prepare for their own special Saint Andrew’s Day celebration. They designed and created invitations and made tartan wrapping paper. Tablecloths and table centres with Scottish themed decorations were also made in preparation for the festivities and home- made saltires enhanced the Scottish theme of the event. The children enjoyed preparing and eating Scottish party food, singing Scottish songs and dancing to the sound of the bagpipes. At the end of our celebration each child took home a party souvenir of Scottish shortbread wrapped in their own tartan paper and tied with a colourful ribbon.

All children agreed that participating in this project was lots of fun. They enjoyed the opportunity to work and play with different groups of children and clearly learned and developed numerous new skills in the process. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with our Pre-school partners in further initiatives throughout the session.
